C1 cable car: aerial drone footage that followed the development of an innovative urban transport project.

DCOMDRONE has been filming the C1 cable car since 2023
Since December 2023, DCOMDRONE has been taking aerial drone shots of the C1 cable car construction site: known as Cable C1 , one of the most ambitious innovative urban transport projects in the Paris region, with Mobilité Ile de France as the project owner.
From the earliest stages of construction, our professional drones have documented the development of this unique infrastructure in France (see article). Thanks to aerial imagery, it has been possible to precisely track the installation of the pylons, the construction of the stations, and the gradual integration of the structure into its urban environment.
Today, these images constitute an exceptional archive retracing several years of work and technical challenges.
An urban cable car operational since December 2025
Designed by the Doppelmayr Group , a market leader in cable transport solutions, the C1 was commissioned in December 2025. It represents a major advancement in the field of public transport. Designed to facilitate travel between several municipalities in the Val-de-Marne department, it offers a modern, fast, and environmentally friendly mobility solution.
For many observers, the C1 could foreshadow the future of public transport in certain urban areas where traditional infrastructure is reaching its limits.

A day of filming for a documentary about the C1
On the occasion of the making of a documentary dedicated to this remarkable infrastructure, DCOMDRONE once again answered Menk Ruffibach of Mera Films .
This production company is currently in charge of making a film retracing the complete history of the project: from its conception to its commissioning, including the many technical stages that marked its construction.
For this mission, the aerial images taken by drone were intended to highlight the now operational structure, and mainly its 5 stations (Pointe du Lac, Limeil-Brevannes, Valenton, La Végétale, and Villa Nova), its cabins and its integration into the urban landscape of the Île-de-France region.
Particularly demanding filming conditions
This day of filming took place in exceptional weather conditions. A severe heatwave was affecting the Île-de-France region, with temperatures particularly high for the season.
These conditions made fieldwork particularly demanding. Managing the drone's batteries, charging them on a portable battery pack, and the prolonged exposure of my remote control screen to sunlight required constant vigilance.
Despite these constraints, the quality of the images obtained more than rewarded the efforts made. The clear light and exceptional visibility allowed for aerial shots that perfectly showcased the cable car's architecture and its integration into the urban fabric.
This image quality was, of course, made possible thanks to the use of the Mavic 4 Pro (now classified as C5 and equipped with its parachute). Many shots were achieved solely through the use of the drone's high-performance zoom lenses. This allowed for the capture of diverse shots while respecting flight zones, which were constrained by a complex urban environment for safety reasons.
Professional drones for major infrastructure projects
The monitoring of the C1 cable car perfectly illustrates the value of professional drones for documenting major development and mobility projects.
Thanks to aerial photography, it becomes possible to showcase the progress of a construction site, to communicate with the public and to preserve a visual record of achievements that are transforming our territories in a lasting way.
For DCOMDRONE, having accompanied the C1 cable car from the first images shot in 2023 to its commercial operation represents a particularly enriching technical and human adventure.
